BYU women’s volleyball head coach Rob Neilson announced on June 2 the signing of transfer outside hitter Dimitra Nanou.

Nanou joins the Cougars with three years of eligibility remaining after completing her freshman season at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. During her first year, she was named Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the All-Southland Conference First Team. She averaged 3.09 kills per set with a .275 hitting percentage.

Originally from Kozani, Greece, Nanou contributed 248 digs, 39 service aces, 36 assists, and 22 total blocks during her freshman campaign. She achieved career highs of 16 digs, 13 kills, three blocks, and one ace in a single match and recorded her first double-double against LIU.

Nanou also brings international experience as a starter for Greece’s U17 and U18 national teams. In 2023, she was named MVP at the U17 Balkan Championship and received recognition as best receiver at the European Championship Qualification.

She will join Kelli Jo Burgess, Kylie Buttars, Brooke Hardy, Rachel Jepsen, and Kaylie Kofe as part of BYU’s six-member signing class for summer 2026.
