BYU women’s tennis sweeps Weber State for fourth straight shutout

No. 47 BYU women’s tennis defeated Weber State 7-0 at home on Friday morning at the BYU Indoor Tennis Courts. The Cougars secured the doubles point with quick wins on courts two and three. Kendall Kovick and Sage Bergeson won 5-0 on court two, while Bella Lewis and Sue Yan Tan earned a 6-0 shutout on court three. The match on court one between Gracie Levelston and Karina Mohamed against their opponents was stopped with a 3-3 tie.

In singles, BYU continued its strong performance. Levelston won her match on court one with scores of 6-4, 6-0. Kovick followed with a 6-2, 6-2 win on court two. On court three, Yan Tan secured a 6-2, 6-4 victory. Bergeson was first to finish in singles, winning 6-0, 6-1 on court four. Lewis added another win for BYU with a 6-2, 6-0 result on court five. Mohamed completed the sweep with a 6-0, 6-2 win on court six.

This result marked BYU’s fourth consecutive shutout this season and improved the team’s record to 10 wins and one loss. The team also extended its home winning streak during the spring.

BYU will continue its doubleheader at home later in the day by facing Colorado State at the same venue.
