BYU’s women’s tennis team, ranked No. 47 nationally, ended its home doubleheader on Friday with a 6-1 victory over Colorado State at the Indoor Tennis Courts in Provo. The Cougars secured the doubles point early and maintained their lead throughout the singles matches.

Head coach Holly Hasler commented on the team’s ongoing development. “We are really emphasizing growth and improvement with every match, regardless of the opponent,” Hasler said. “Today was another good step forward. The girls stayed focused, competed well and did what they needed to do to earn two solid wins.”

In doubles play, BYU took an early advantage. On Court Two, Kendall Kovick and Sage Bergeson won 6-2 by maintaining consistent net play and steady service games. Gracie Levelston and Karina Mohamed secured a 6-4 win on Court One after pulling ahead late in the set. Bella Lewis and Sue Yan Tan completed the sweep on Court Three with a narrow 6-5 victory after extended rallies.

The Cougars continued their strong performance in singles competition. Levelston won her match on Court One with scores of 6-2, 6-3. Kovick earned a 6-3, 7-5 win on Court Two after a close second set. Bergeson prevailed on Court Four with a 6-4, 6-4 result, while Lewis took her match on Court Five with scores of 6-1, 6-4. Mohamed finished off the night for BYU with a 7-5, 6-3 win on Court Six.

Colorado State’s only point came from Court Three when Tan was forced to forfeit after the first set.
