BYU women’s basketball overcame a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat Arizona State 66-61 on Tuesday night at Desert Financial Arena in Tempe, Arizona. Delaney Gibb led the Cougars with 24 points, including making 13 of 14 free throws. Lara Rohkohl contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds, and Olivia Hamlin added 16 points while hitting three of six attempts from beyond the arc.

Head coach Lee Cummard commented on the team’s performance: “It was a tremendous environment, tremendous college basketball game, tremendous grit and resilience from our group tonight. They’re well coached. They got a great group, and we’re fortunate to come out on top today, but we had some girls really make some crucial plays in the game at key moments. Then we had a couple of girls who just rebounded like crazy today. That ultimately was the difference.”

The Cougars improved to 10-0 this season when Rohkohl scores in double figures. Gibb has now scored more than 20 points in three consecutive games.

After trailing by double digits at halftime and shooting only 25 percent from the field in the first half, BYU changed momentum in the third quarter by outscoring Arizona State 28-11. The team forced nine turnovers during the second half and held Arizona State to just over 28 percent shooting after halftime.

BYU started strong with early contributions from Gibb and Rohkohl but fell behind as Arizona State went on several scoring runs in the first two quarters. In the third quarter, BYU’s offense found its rhythm through outside shooting and transition play, eventually taking its first lead since early in the game.

In the fourth quarter, BYU extended its advantage with a run that forced an Arizona State timeout. The Sun Devils responded but could not overcome BYU’s late free throw shooting or Hamlin’s floater with seconds remaining.

BYU will next play Colorado at home on Saturday, February 28 for senior day at Marriott Center in Provo. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. MT and will be available via streaming on ESPN+, live stats online, and radio coverage on BYU Radio.
