BYU women’s golf tied for second place in the Wyoming Cowgirl Classic after a 3-under-par final round on April 8 at Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club in Maricopa, Arizona.

The result marks the Cougars’ best team finish of the season and saw four players secure spots inside the top-25. The team’s performance demonstrates their improvement as they prepare for upcoming postseason play.

Head coach Carrie Roberts said, “It was nice to see birdies by each of the girls this week. It was a team effort, and we are proud of the effort we put forth this week.”

The Cougars matched their opening-round score with another 285 in round three to maintain their runner-up position. Iowa State clinched first place with a strong showing, including a player who won the individual title and led several statistical categories. Sacramento State finished tied with BYU at 3-under par after an impressive third round, while Grand Canyon and UNLV shared fourth place at two-over par.

Senior Lily McCauley recorded her season-best finish by tying for 13th at even par, marking her highest placement since tying for 12th at last year’s USF Invitational. Ava Schroeder rebounded from a difficult second round to tie for 17th at one-over par, her best result since finishing eighth at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational. Whitney Banz and Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan both tied for 19th place at two-over par.

Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul matched Berlin Long—who competed as an individual—for 55th place overall.

Looking ahead, BYU will compete next in playoff golf during the Big 12 Championship scheduled for April 23-25 in Dallas.
