BYU women’s golf finished 12th at the Lady Luck Invitational, held at Las Vegas Country Club. The team recorded rounds of 312, 308, and 307 for a total score of 927. In the final round on Tuesday, BYU posted a 19-over-par.
The University of Central Florida (UCF) won the tournament with a strong third round of six under par, finishing at 866 overall. UCF led all teams with 45 birdies and ended the event two over par. Kent State secured second place at 879 after posting three over par in the final round, while Houston finished third with a score of 886. Tournament host UNLV placed fourth at 887, and Oklahoma State rounded out the top five with an even-par final round to finish at 894.
Maria Jose “MJ” Barragan was BYU’s highest finisher. She shot rounds of 74, 71, and 77 for a total of 222, placing her tied for 15th individually. This marks Barragan’s fourth top-15 finish this season and the twelfth in her career.
Kanyanol (Naji) Aramkul finished tied for 43rd after shooting a nine-over-par final round for a total score of 233. Lily McCauley recorded BYU’s lowest score on Tuesday with a three-over-par round to finish tied for 52nd at 235. Ava Schroeder ended in a tie for 69th place at 242, while Whitney Banz tied for 73rd with a score of 246.
BYU will compete next in the Betsy Rawls Invitational at UT Golf Club in Austin, Texas on March 16-17.
