Brigham Young University athletes won three events at the UVU Collegiate Invitational on March 26, with Tessa Buswell, Carmen Alder, and Lia Katoa each taking first place in their respective competitions at Hal Wing Track & Field.
The results highlight strong performances by BYU’s women’s track and field team early in the outdoor season. The meet saw multiple Cougars finish near the top of their events, signaling depth within the squad.
Katoa opened her season in the hammer throw with a winning mark of 181-4.5 on her first attempt. Jayda Lee also reached the final round and placed fourth after throwing 175-5.5.
In track events, Buswell secured victory in the 800-meter race by finishing in 2:05.15. Teammate Krystie Solomon-Jensen finished just behind her with a time of 2:05.42, while Kylie Olsen took third place with a time of 2:08.07.
Alder made her season debut on the track by winning the 1500 meters with a time of 4:17.17. Carlee Hansen-Thompson finished second at 4:18.50, and fellow Cougars Jacey Harkins-Farmer, Taylor Rohatinsky, and Nelah Roberts completed top-five finishes for BYU.
Looking ahead, BYU will participate in the Ron and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invitational from March 27 to March 28 at Allyson Felix Field.
