Brigham Young University announced on Apr. 28 that it will host the Robison Invitational from April 29 through May 2 at the Clarence F. Robison Track & Field Complex in Provo.
The event will feature a range of competitions, beginning with the throws group. Lia Katoa and Lia Pili, both ranking among the top ten in program history, are set to lead the hammer throw. Kaiah Fisher, who holds a top-ten mark in discus with a best of 55.09 meters achieved at the Weber State Spring Classic, will also compete.
Zoey Bonds and Tia Brown are scheduled for the heptathlon events. Bonds recently set a time of 13.26 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles, placing her sixth all-time at BYU. Kali McEuen, third-best historically for BYU in the same event, returns for Wednesday’s preliminary round.
Paje Rasmussen will participate in both the preliminary round of the 100 meters and attempt to break Jaslyn Gardner’s school record in Saturday’s 200 meters final. Marianne Barber and Cambria Hasler are slated for competition in the 400 meters; Barber currently ranks sixth all-time at BYU with a time of 53.51 seconds.
Other notable entries include pole vaulters Abbie Scott and Cailee Faulkner—Faulkner is BYU’s current record holder—and Mae Johnson competing for her second outdoor high jump win this season. The relay team featuring Barber, Rasmussen, McEuen, and Mikensi Smith is tied for sixth place this season within Big 12 competition after posting a time of 44.30 seconds at an earlier meet.
Distance events begin Thursday with Jane Hedengren making her first outdoor appearances after setting significant indoor records as a freshman last season; she will be joined by Carlee Hansen-Thompson, Tessa Buswell (who also leads BYU’s strong group in the women’s 800m), Taylor Rohatinsky, Karissa Chamberlain (3000m steeplechase), and Emerald Kehr.
In addition to athletic competition, senior members of BYU track and field—including Carmen Alder (distance), Zoey Bonds (multi-events), Kaiah Fisher (throws), Carlee Hansen-Thompson (distance), Jacey Harkins-Farmer (distance), Jenna Hutchins (distance), Kali McEuen (sprints/hurdles), Krystie Solomon-Jensen (mid-distance) and Mayci Taylor (multi-events)—will be honored during a ceremony scheduled Thursday at noon.
