BYU will open the 2026 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Tournament against Kansas State on Tuesday, March 10, with tipoff scheduled for 6 p.m. Central Time at T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
The matchup marks the first time BYU and Kansas State will meet in the Big 12 Tournament. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ with Jon Sciambi, Fran Fraschilla, and Angel Gray providing commentary.
This meeting is the twelfth all-time between the two teams, with BYU holding a narrow lead in the series at six wins to five. Head coach Kevin Young is undefeated against Kansas State since taking over at BYU, including an earlier season victory where AJ Dybantsa scored a game-high 24 points. Keba Keita has also been a key contributor in these matchups, averaging double figures in points and rebounds.
BYU enters the tournament after ending a three-game losing streak with an 82-76 win over No. 10 Texas Tech on Senior Day. In that game, Robert Wright III led all scorers with 27 points while Dybantsa added his tenth consecutive game of scoring at least twenty points. The Cougars also excelled on the boards and limited turnovers to secure their first win over Texas Tech since joining the conference.
The team has performed well at neutral sites this season, posting a record of six wins and one loss. Their offensive production has been strong in these games, outscoring opponents by more than eleven points per contest and shooting efficiently from both inside and outside the arc.
Looking ahead to Tuesday’s contest, BYU’s duo of Dybantsa and Wright III have combined for over thirteen hundred points this season—one of the highest totals by any pair in program history. With continued strong performances from key players like Keita and Khadim Mboup, who has helped boost rebounding efforts throughout the year, BYU aims to extend its streak of winning at least one conference tournament game for a sixth straight season.
