BYU softball defeated Kansas 4-3 at Gail Miller Field on March 27, securing the win with a walk-off home run by Danica Acosta in the bottom of the seventh inning.

The victory ties the series at one game each and gives BYU a boost as they look to improve their record in Big 12 play. The game featured strong performances from several Cougars players, including Hailey Morrow, who hit a three-run homer in the first inning to give BYU an early lead.

Morrow finished the night going two-for-two with a double and three runs batted in. Kaiya Fabela contributed with a double, while pitcher Hailey Shuler earned her fifth win of the season by throwing a complete game, allowing six hits and two earned runs while striking out three batters.

Kansas managed to tie the score at three runs apiece after hitting a two-run home run in the sixth inning. However, Shuler held off further scoring opportunities for Kansas before Acosta’s solo shot secured BYU’s win.

The teams will meet again for the rubber match on Saturday morning as BYU aims to take the series.
