BYU softball will resume Big 12 Conference play with a three-game series against No. 23/21 Oklahoma State in Stillwater from March 19 to March 21.

The matchup is significant as BYU looks to improve its conference record after starting the season with four games in Utah and going 3-1 during its recent Big 12 bye week. The Cougars, currently holding an overall record of 8-18 and a conference record of 0-3, will face the Cowgirls for just the second time in Stillwater.

The series opens Thursday at 6 p.m. Central Time, followed by another game Friday at the same time, and concludes Saturday at noon. All games will be streamed on ESPN+ with live stats available through StatBroadcast.

Last week, BYU secured wins over Abilene Christian and Utah Tech’s Trailblazer Classic hosts, as well as Omaha, avenging an earlier no-hit loss to the Mavericks. The team hit .364 over four games, with seven players batting .300 or better. Bre Townsend led with a .625 average, while Danica Acosta (.556), Hailey Shuler (.545), Hailey Morrow (.375), Lily Owens (.364), Rita Tavita (.333), and Kaiya Fabela (.333) also contributed strong performances.

In their win over Omaha, BYU tied its season high in hits (14) and at-bats (33). The Cougars overcame a late deficit after surrendering a grand slam but regained the lead on Townsend’s two-run homer and added insurance with Fabela’s first collegiate home run. BYU homered five times in that contest.

Statistically, BYU ranks No. 66 nationally in strikeouts per seven innings (5.52), which is fourth best in the Big 12 Conference. Ilove’a Brittingham has caught five runners stealing this season (second in the league), Jada Villegas has two saves (also second), while Owens’ five hit-by-pitches and her walks per game rank fourth in the conference.

Oklahoma State enters the series with a record of 19-9 overall and is currently 2-4 in Big 12 play. The Cowgirls recently defeated Grand Canyon after losing a series to Arizona State and are currently 6-3 at home this season. The all-time series between BYU and Oklahoma State is tied at eight wins each; head coach Gordon Eakin holds a personal record of seven wins and seven losses against OSU during his tenure.

After facing Oklahoma State, BYU will return to Utah for a midweek game against Utah Valley before hosting Kansas for its first home Big 12 series.
