BYU softball will travel to Lubbock for a three-game series against No. 2 Texas Tech, with games scheduled for April 2 through April 4, according to a March 31 announcement.

The matchup is significant as BYU makes its first trip to Lubbock in the history of the series and faces a highly ranked opponent. The series includes two games streamed on ESPN+ and one nationally televised on FS1.

Last week, BYU posted a 2-2 record, securing an 8-5 win at Utah Valley before dropping its home Big 12 series against Kansas. Danica Acosta played a key role by hitting her first career home run in game two and adding another solo shot in game three. Senior Hailey Morrow led the team offensively, batting .500 overall and .556 during the Kansas series.

Other notable performances included Bre Townsend (.375) and Rita Tavita (.308), who both hit above .300 for the week. Defensively, BYU turned four double plays last week, including three in one game against Kansas. Pitcher Hailey Shuler earned both Cougar wins with over thirteen innings pitched.

As Big 12 play approaches its midpoint, BYU ranks fifth in the conference for double plays (14), double plays per game (0.42), and strikeouts per seven innings (4.93). Ilove’a Brittingham is second in the league with six runners caught stealing while Villegas holds second place with three saves—ranking fifteenth nationally.

Texas Tech enters the weekend on a nine-game winning streak and leads the all-time series between these teams six games to three. After this road trip, BYU will return home for a nine-game homestand starting with Utah Valley.
