BYU softball lost to No. 23/21 Oklahoma State, 10-0, in five innings at Cowgirl Stadium on March 20.
The loss marks another setback for the Cougars, who are now 8-20 overall and 0-5 in Big 12 play. The game ended early due to the run rule after Oklahoma State’s strong offensive performance and a perfect game by their pitching staff.
Oklahoma State took control early, scoring five runs in the first inning with back-to-back home runs, a bases loaded walk, and two sacrifice flies. In the second inning, the Cowgirls loaded the bases again and added another run with an infield groundout. They extended their lead to seven in the third inning after a two-out walk, stolen base, and single through the right side.
The game concluded in the fifth inning when Oklahoma State hit a double off the right field wall followed by two walks and a walk-off home run to right center. BYU was retired in order during all five innings of play.
Looking ahead, BYU will try to avoid a series sweep when they face Oklahoma State again on Saturday, March 21 at noon Central Time on ESPN+.
