BYU’s softball team lost 4-0 to Seattle University at the Judi Garman Classic in Fullerton, California on Friday morning. The Cougars now have a record of 4-13 for the season.
BYU left six runners on base during the game, including three who reached scoring position but were unable to score. Danica Acosta recorded one hit in two at-bats, including a double.
Pitcher Jada Villegas kept Seattle off base in the second and third innings, but Seattle scored three runs in the fourth inning with two bloop singles, another single up the middle, and a sacrifice fly. BYU put runners on base again in the fifth inning but could not capitalize.
Seattle added another run in the fifth after a bunt single, an unsuccessful pickoff attempt by BYU, and another single up the middle. The Cougars were retired in order during both the sixth and seventh innings and did not score.
BYU will finish play at the Judi Garman Classic on Saturday with games against UCLA at 9:30 a.m. PT and Loyola Marymount University at 12:30 p.m.
