Brigham Young University announced on March 20 that its men’s track and field team will begin the outdoor season at the Utah Tech Invitational, held at Greater Zion Stadium on March 21.
The start of the outdoor season comes just one week after the Cougars concluded their indoor campaign by securing their first individual national title in over fifteen years. The transition marks a quick turnaround for athletes as they prepare to compete in a range of events.
The throws group will be represented by Mark Bryant, Kaden Passey, Erik Bryant, and Tyler Poole, who are expected to participate in both discus and shot put events. In the high jump, Connor Saunders, Carter Walker, and Hayden Gribble will compete for BYU.
Middle distance runners Brayden Packard, Jacob Robison, and Caleb Johnson are set to run in the 800-meter event. For hurdles, Jayden Jessee and Garrett Copelin will take part in the 400-meter hurdles and join Treyton Anderson, Kaden Passey, and Logan Hubler in the 110-meter hurdles.
Kaden Passey is also scheduled to compete in the 100-meter sprint. Josh Taylor will make his season debut in the 200-meter race while Brayden Dahl and Ty Oustrich are entered in the 400-meter event. The sprints group plans to conclude their participation with a team entry in the 4×400-meter relay.
The meet provides an early opportunity for athletes across multiple disciplines to test themselves as they move from indoor to outdoor competition.
