The BYU men’s tennis team lost to No. 9 Baylor with a score of 4-0 on Apr. 4 at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas. This match marked the Cougars’ last out-of-state contest for the regular season.
With this loss, BYU’s overall record moved to 13-7 and its Big 12 conference record fell to 1-5. The defeat was also the team’s fourth consecutive setback.
Adam Chodur and Tygen Goldammer each faced ranked opponents during singles play over the weekend, with both players winning two of three completed sets against their higher-ranked competitors from TCU and Baylor. In doubles competition, Chodur and Otto Schreiner were ahead early on Court One before matches on Courts Two and Three swung in Baylor’s favor, giving the Bears an early lead.
In singles action, Goldammer and Caden Hasler secured close first-set wins while Chodur won his opening set convincingly. However, Baylor responded by taking second sets across those courts and eventually clinched victory with additional wins elsewhere in singles play.
The Cougars will return home next Thursday for Senior Night against Arizona State at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
