The BYU men’s tennis team lost 4-1 to No. 27 Arizona State in its final home match, according to an April 9 announcement.

The match marked Senior Night for the Cougars, as the team recognized seniors Adam Chodur, Alex Edmonston, and Redd Owen for their contributions. Head coach Zack Warren spoke after the match about the impact of these players on the program and university. “It was great celebrating the seniors today. We’re so grateful for their many contributions to our program,” Warren said. “They are fantastic representatives of our university and have incredibly bright futures and will continue to make a difference and positive impact in their community and beyond. We’re so excited for them.”

With this result, BYU’s record stands at 4-3 at home and 13-8 overall this season, with one regular season match remaining against Utah in Salt Lake City on Saturday.

In doubles play, Otto Schreiner and Adam Chodur secured a win on Court One after a back-and-forth set that ended 6-4 in favor of BYU, marking their first Big 12 doubles victory of the season. Tygen Goldammer and TJ Wells also won on Court Two with a score of 6-3. The third doubles court went unfinished at a tie of 4-4 but contributed to BYU earning its first doubles point at home since February.

Despite leading into singles matches with a point advantage, Arizona State gained momentum by winning four opening sets in singles play. The Sun Devils clinched straight-set victories on four courts to secure the overall win. Goldammer’s and Yubel Ubri’s singles matches were left unfinished as each had split sets when play concluded.

BYU will finish its regular season schedule against Utah at George S. Eccles Tennis Center.
