No. 6 BYU men’s volleyball secured a 3-1 win over Jessup in Rocklin, California, on Saturday night. After losing the first set 23-25, the Cougars responded by taking the next three sets 25-16, 25-20, and 25-16.

With this result, BYU improves to a 15-4 overall record and remains undefeated at 2-0 in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) play.

Trent Moser led BYU with 12 kills and a .474 hitting percentage. Teilon-Jonathan Tufuga contributed 11 kills while Connor Oldani added nine. Defensively, Gavin Chambers recorded four blocks, Oldani had three, and Tufuga finished with two. Tyler Herget and Jackson Fife each achieved season-highs of ten digs.

In the opening set, both teams exchanged leads before Jessup pulled ahead at the media timeout and eventually won the set. Jessup hit .355 in that frame but struggled offensively for the remainder of the match with negative hitting percentages in sets two through four.

BYU recovered in the second set with strong performances from Moser, Tufuga, and Oldani to build a five-point lead. The Cougars closed out that set on an 8-4 run. In the third set, after falling behind following an early lead, BYU regained control and secured another win. The fourth set remained close until BYU established a lead at 7-5 and maintained it through to victory.

Next week, BYU will travel back to California for two more MPSF matches against No. 18 Stanford.
