BYU men’s tennis will face Texas Tech in Provo for the first time on March 28, as announced by the university. The match is set for Friday at 5:00 p.m. at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.

This meeting comes as both teams look to improve their records within the Big 12 Conference. BYU currently holds a record of 13-4 overall and is fifth in the conference standings with a 1-2 mark, while Texas Tech stands at 11-7 overall and also has a conference record of 1-2.

The Cougars are coming off a recent road loss to UCF, where they fell by a score of 4-1. Despite this setback, BYU has performed well at home this season with four wins out of five matches played in Provo. The team has split its two Big 12 home matches so far.

Individually, several BYU players have posted strong results. Junior Tygen Goldammer holds a singles record of 13-2 this year after surpassing his previous season’s mark. Sophomore Hardy Owen remains undefeated in singles play this season with seven wins and no losses. Freshman Caden Hasler has contributed an eight-win tally that includes clinching victory over Oklahoma State earlier in the month.

Texas Tech enters the match following consecutive victories against Oklahoma State and UTSA but has struggled on the road, remaining winless away from home so far this season. Their top singles player, Niksa Arsic, boasts a record of fifteen wins and six losses and is currently on a four-match winning streak.

Historically, Texas Tech leads the series between these programs with four victories and no defeats against BYU, including three straight wins over recent years and a decisive neutral-site win in 2014.

A livestream will be available for fans who wish to follow along remotely, alongside live scoring updates across all courts.
