The BYU men’s tennis team will host No. 35 Oklahoma State on Saturday, March 13, at 3:30 p.m. Mountain Time at the Outdoor Tennis Courts in Provo.
This match is significant as it marks the Cougars’ second Big 12 home contest of the week and presents an opportunity for BYU to end its eight-match conference losing streak, which dates back to last season.
The Cougars, currently ranked No. 57, are coming off a 4–0 loss to No. 17 Arizona Wildcats on Thursday. This defeat dropped their season record to 12–3 and extended their winless run in Big 12 play.
Oklahoma State enters the match with a record of 14–4 overall and a conference mark of 1–0. The Cowboys recently secured a close 4–3 victory over Utah in Salt Lake City, marking their fourth win in five matches and improving their away record to two wins and four losses this season. Freshman Haydar Gokpinar has been a standout for Oklahoma State, posting a singles record of 15-1 and maintaining a twelve-match winning streak after competing at the boys’ singles draw at the Wimbledon Championships in 2025.
Saturday’s contest will be the sixth meeting between BYU and Oklahoma State, with the Cowboys leading the series three games to two. Since BYU joined the Big 12 Conference for the 2023–24 season, Oklahoma State has won all three encounters between the teams, including consecutive narrow victories by scores of 4–3 last season—the most recent occurring during the Big 12 Championships.
Looking ahead, both teams aim to strengthen their positions within conference play as they continue through the spring schedule.
