The BYU Cougars men’s tennis team, ranked No. 56 nationally, will compete in the Boise State Spring Invitational this weekend at the Boise Racquet and Swim Club in Boise, Idaho. The event marks the conclusion of their regional dual matches for the season.

Six teams are participating in the tournament and have been divided into two groups. BYU is placed in Bracket B with No. 65 Gonzaga Bulldogs and the Idaho Vandals. Bracket A consists of No. 66 Boise State Broncos, Idaho State Bengals, and Montana Grizzlies.

The format for the invitational is round-robin play within each group. Each team will face both opponents in its bracket to determine placement matches for first, third, or fifth place on Saturday.

BYU’s schedule begins Friday morning at 10 a.m. against Gonzaga (5–2), followed by a match against Idaho (5–8) at 6 p.m.

Historically, BYU holds a 7–4 record against Gonzaga but has lost to them in their last two meetings in 2023 and also suffered a home defeat in 2022 with a score of 4–1. Currently, Gonzaga stands third in the West Coast Conference and enters the tournament with five consecutive wins, three of which were close contests ending 4–3.

Against Idaho, BYU maintains a perfect record of 9–0. The Cougars are undefeated against any program they have played more than five times. The Vandals are currently fifth in the Big Sky Conference standings and recently lost to Gonzaga on February 21.

There will be no livestream available for these matches; however, fans can follow live scoring through https://ioncourt.com/leagues/boise-state-spring-invitational or check updates on the tournament website.
