No. 18-seeded Brigham Young University will begin its pursuit of a second NCAA men’s golf championship title on May 28 at Omni La Costa Resort in Carlsbad, California.

The Cougar lineup includes Kihei Akina, Parker Bunn, Peter Kim, Simon Kwon and Tyson Shelley, with Jackson Mauss traveling as a substitute. BYU is part of a 30-team field that features top-ranked programs such as Auburn, Florida, Texas, Virginia and Oklahoma State. Other participating teams include Arkansas, LSU, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Arizona and several others from across the country. The full field also consists of six individual competitors representing Alabama, Long Beach State, Louisiana, Liberty, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and Kentucky.

The tournament opens with a 72-hole stroke play format. BYU will compete Thursday through Saturday for a place among the top-15 teams before the final round of stroke play on Monday. Should the Cougars finish in the top-8 after stroke play concludes Monday evening, they will advance to match play competition scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday to determine the national champion.

This marks BYU’s 34th appearance at the NCAA Championship. The program last claimed a national title in 1981 at Stanford Golf Course.

BYU tees off its first round Thursday at 4 p.m. Mountain Daylight Time. Live scoring updates are available on Scoreboard platforms, while live television coverage of each round can be found on Golf Channel throughout the event.
