BYU lost to Oklahoma State 12-5 on March 27 in the second game of their weekend baseball series at Miller Park.

The loss puts BYU at a record of 12-13 overall and 3-5 in conference play, while Oklahoma State improves to 17-10 and matches BYU’s conference record. The outcome was decided after a five-run fifth inning by the Cowboys that put them ahead for good.

BYU took an early lead after Ryder Robinson hit a two-run home run in the third inning, bringing the score to 2-1. Multi-hit performances from Ezra McNaughton and Bryker Hurdsman contributed to BYU’s offense, but it was not enough to overcome Oklahoma State’s strong showing at the plate.

Oklahoma State responded quickly with base hits and capitalized on wild pitches and extra-base hits throughout the middle innings. A two-run home run in the fifth inning helped break open the game for the Cowboys. Despite defensive plays like Keoni Painter’s leaping catch at the wall, BYU could not slow down Oklahoma State’s momentum.

The Cougars managed runs late in the seventh and eighth innings, including an RBI double from Tu’alau Wolfgramm and RBI singles from both Crew McChesney and Painter. However, Oklahoma State continued adding runs through a combination of home runs and taking advantage of wild pitches.

Looking ahead, BYU will face Oklahoma State again on Saturday, March 28 at Miller Park for the final game of their three-game series. The matchup will be broadcast on ESPN+ and BYU Radio.
