BYU defeated Baylor 10-4 on April 3 in the second game of a three-game Big 12 baseball series at Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark.

The win brings BYU’s record to 14-15 overall and 5-6 in conference play, while Baylor falls to 17-13 overall and 6-5 in the Big 12. The result is significant as both teams continue to compete for positioning within the conference standings.

BYU started strong with three runs in the first inning, sparked by a leadoff single from Bryker Hurdsman and an RBI single from Easton Jones. Tualau Wolfgramm contributed a two-RBI triple to give BYU an early lead. Although Baylor tied the game at three runs apiece in the third inning, BYU quickly regained control with solo home runs from Ridge Erickson and Patrick Graham in the fourth inning.

Jones led off the fifth with a single, stole second base, and scored on a throwing error by Baylor, increasing BYU’s lead. The Cougars’ pitching held firm during key moments, notably escaping a bases-loaded situation in the sixth inning with back-to-back strikeouts.

Wolfgramm added another run for BYU with a solo home run in the seventh. Erickson drove in Jones with an RBI double later that inning. In the ninth, Graham doubled and Ezra McNaughton followed with an RBI single to push BYU’s total to ten runs. Baylor managed one more run on a solo home run but could not mount a comeback.

The series continues Saturday, April 4 at Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark.
