The BYU Cougars women’s track and field team will compete at the Division I NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas on March 13-14.
The event is significant as it brings together top collegiate athletes from across the country to compete for national titles. Several BYU athletes are entering the championships with strong performances from recent meets.
Zoey Bonds will open competition for the Cougars on Friday morning in the pentathlon. Bonds recently finished second at the Big 12 Championships, achieving a personal best of 4,239 points. She is the first Cougar to qualify for this event since Hailey Folsom in 2022.
Riley Chamberlain, who holds the NCAA indoor mile record, will participate in both her signature event and the 3000-meter race. Chamberlain’s season-best time in the 3000 meters is 8:43.16, recorded at the Millrose Games. Jane Hedengren will make her debut at indoor nationals, competing in both the 3000m and 5000m events. Hedengren currently holds the top NCAA mark in the 5000m with a time of 14:44.79 and ranks second nationally in the 3000m after running an 8:34.98 at Millrose.
Jenna Hutchins joins Chamberlain and Hedengren in the 3000m after posting a career-best time of 8:44.04 at this year’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational, ranking seventh nationally. Senior Sami Oblad will race in the 400m following her school-record performance of 51.48 seconds and runner-up finish at Big 12s—her second consecutive appearance at indoor nationals.
The distance medley relay team—Taylor Rohatinsky, Kali McEuen, Krystie Solomon-Jensen, and Hutchins—will aim for their third straight national title after winning this year’s Big 12 championship with a time of 11:11.95.
The schedule includes multiple events over two days, with finals set for Saturday if athletes advance through preliminary rounds.
