The BYU Cougarettes announced on March 10 that auditions for the competitive dance team will be held on April 24 and 25, 2026, in room 2206 of the Richards Building. The deadline to submit applications is April 23 at 11 p.m. Mountain Time.
The Cougarettes are seeking elite-level dancers who demonstrate strong technical skills, performance ability, and professionalism. Team members represent Brigham Young University’s athletic department, the university itself, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. According to the announcement, “We need representatives who are mature, articulate and who love the art of dance, performance and competition.”
Applicants must be admitted to BYU before auditioning. Required materials include a $40 audition fee receipt, an online application with a headshot and dance resume in PDF format, a completed release-waiver form, a pre-participation physical exam form signed by a medical doctor or doctor of osteopathy within 90 days of auditions, copies of both sides of their medical insurance card (to be brought in person), and two letters of recommendation from dance references sent directly via email.
Each member selected for the team receives scholarship money distributed based on leadership roles and years spent on the team. Parts of the audition process will be filmed but not shared publicly; all recordings will be erased after results are posted.
Results for the 2026-27 Cougarette team will be announced individually by email on May 1. For further information or questions about the process, applicants can contact Co-Head Coaches Stacy Bills or Morgan St. Pierre via their provided email addresses.
The upcoming auditions highlight opportunities for students passionate about dance to join a recognized collegiate program while representing both BYU and its affiliated organizations.
