BYU baseball will face Baylor in a three-game Big 12 series in Waco, Texas, starting April 2. The games are scheduled for Thursday and Friday at 6:30 p.m. Central Time, with Saturday’s game set for 1:00 p.m., though times may change due to possible inclement weather.
The matchup is important as both teams are closely ranked within the conference standings. Eight of the fourteen Big 12 teams are separated by just one game, making this series significant for postseason positioning.
The games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and available through BYU Radio channels including SiriusXM 143 and local Utah County radio. This marks only the sixth meeting between BYU and Baylor, with Baylor leading the all-time series four games to one. Their last encounter in Provo saw Baylor sweep BYU over three games from April 11-13, 2024. In previous meetings held in Waco, each team has claimed a win.
Currently, BYU holds a record of 13-14 overall and is tied for eighth place in Big 12 play at 4-5. Baylor stands at 16-12 overall and shares fourth place with a conference record of 5-4. Team statistics show BYU hitting .283 as a team—eighth best in the conference—and leading sixth in hits but tenth in runs scored. On pitching performance, they rank thirteenth with an earned run average (ERA) of 6.79.
Recent highlights include dramatic wins by BYU over Utah and Oklahoma State last week, featuring walk-off home runs by Easton Jones and Painter. Offensively, Ezra McNaughton leads most categories for BYU while Ryder Robinson has been recognized nationally as Brooks Wallace Award National Player of the Week after strong performances earlier this season.
Looking ahead to the weekend series against Baylor, Nate Gray leads Cougar pitchers with four wins this season while Ashton Johnson follows with two wins across eleven outings.
