BYU baseball will play against Utah Valley University in a nonconference matchup on April 7 at UCCU Ballpark in Orem. The game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. Mountain Time and will be broadcast live on ESPN+ as well as BYU Radio platforms.
The matchup marks the first of two midweek contests between the Cougars and Wolverines this season, with both teams holding identical records of 14-16. This game continues a local rivalry that has seen BYU lead the all-time series 38-11, including winning 17 of the last 19 meetings.
BYU enters the contest after a three-game series at Baylor, where they won one out of three games. Junior reliever Nate Gray secured his third consecutive win during that series, pitching over six innings and allowing just one earned run. Offensively, Ezra McNaughton leads BYU with a .379 batting average, while Ryder Robinson and Easton Jones have also contributed significantly across various offensive categories. Crew McChesney remains sidelined due to an injury sustained during an earlier series.
On the pitching side, Gray leads BYU with five wins this season—tied for most in the Big 12 Conference—while Ashton Johnson has added two wins and two saves. Several other pitchers have each contributed at least one win.
Utah Valley comes into Tuesday’s game after winning two out of three games against CSU Bakersfield but has yet to begin conference play in the Western Athletic Conference this year. Former Cougar Chipper Beck now leads UVU offensively alongside teammates Kaden Carpenter and Hunter Katschke, who top several key statistics for their team.
Following their meeting with UVU, BYU will travel to Texas for a three-game Big 12 series against Houston from April 9-11.
