BYU baseball will play Texas Tech in a three-game series from May 7-9 at Rip Griffin Park in Lubbock, Texas. The first two games are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Central Time on Thursday and Friday, with the final game set for Saturday at 1 p.m.

The matchup is important as BYU seeks to improve its standing in the Big 12 Conference before returning home for its last regular-season series. All three games will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and through various BYU Radio platforms including the BYU Radio app, BYUradio.org, SiriusXM channel 143, and locally on 107.9 FM in Utah County.

BYU enters the series with a record of 24-23 overall and an even split of 12-12 in conference play after defeating UNLV 5-2 earlier this week. In that game, nine Cougar pitchers combined for fourteen strikeouts against the Rebels. Prior to that win, BYU lost a Big 12 series to Utah by dropping two out of three games.

Texas Tech holds a record of 24-24 overall and is currently tied for twelfth place in the Big 12 standings with Arizona at a conference record of 7-17. The Red Raiders have performed well at home this season with an eighteen-win tally out of twenty-nine games played there. Historically, Texas Tech leads the all-time series against BYU nine wins to five and has won eight out of ten matchups played in Lubbock.

For Thursday’s opener, senior left-handed pitcher Wayland Crane will start for BYU after posting one earned run over five innings during his last outing against Utah. Senior right-hander Garrison Sumner is set to start Friday’s game; he leads the team with fifty-three innings pitched and sixty-seven strikeouts across twelve appearances this year.

Following their road trip at Texas Tech, BYU will return home to host Kansas from May 14-16 at Miller Park for their final regular-season Big 12 series.
