BYU lost to No. 14 Kansas, 9-6, in the first game of a three-game Big 12 home series at Miller Park on May 14.

The game saw BYU (26-26, 13-15) score six runs on eleven hits but leave eleven runners stranded. Kansas (38-15, 21-7) recorded nine runs on twelve hits and hit three home runs.

Kansas started strong with a leadoff home run and extended their lead through the early innings, including a two-run homer in the fifth that made it 6-0. BYU responded in the bottom of the fifth when Crew McChesney doubled to clear loaded bases and Tualau Wolfgramm followed with an RBI double to bring the score to 6-4.

In the sixth inning, Bryker Hurdsman tripled and was driven in by Ryder Robinson’s single. Easton Jones then singled to tie the game at six apiece. However, Kansas regained control with a home run in the seventh and added two more runs in the eighth for a final margin of victory.

Head coach Trent Pratt’s team will look to bounce back as they continue their series against Kansas on Friday, May 15 at Miller Park. The next games will be streamed on ESPN+ and broadcast via BYU Radio app, BYUradio.org, SiriusXM channel 143, and local FM radio.
