Freshman golfer Kihei Akina is preparing to compete in the Puerto Rico Open at Grand Reserve Golf Club, beginning Thursday. Akina will be joined by current PGA Tour players and former BYU golfers Patrick Fishburn and Zac Blair.

“My game feels good, and I’m excited to tee it up tomorrow,” Akina said. “It’s been a lot of fun this week so far, and I’ve got a great caddy in Coach Miller for the week.”

Fishburn will make his 61st appearance on the PGA Tour, while Blair will participate in his 227th event. Akina expressed admiration for both athletes: “Fish and Blair are two people I look up to,” he said. “It’s cool to see some Cougars on the PGA TOUR and be able to interact with them.”

The scheduled tee times (Mountain Standard Time) for Thursday are as follows: Zac Blair at 8:53 a.m., Patrick Fishburn at 9:15 a.m., and Kihei Akina at 9:59 a.m., all starting from hole one.
